Wednesday 21st January
Went down first thing this morning to make the most of the frosty weather. Dug over some more of the orchard. Some areas have much less bindweed roots than others,
and so it's much quicker to dig over. In other places the roots are thick - I even took a picture of them in case I forget how bad it was. And they snap so easily, it's almost as it they're laughing at me - ha, we'll get you back later! It was warm work and I was soon warm enough to peel off some of the extra layers I'd been wearing. I took a coffee break then decided to put up some more fencing amongst the hedge. I used the fencing I'd retrieved from the tip. It was good strong stuff. I've now done about half of the total hedged area. By 10.30 everywhere was warming up and the soil was becoming sticky - definintely time to head back.
