Tidying up

Monday. Now that most of the crops are in, it's time to start tidying up for the winter. I got the fire going really easily today and had flames and huge amounts of smoke everywhere. Betty came with me for company although she has a habit of escaping through the hedge. I had to keep her on the lead for a while but mostly she enjoys sniffing around or just sleeping in the sun. What a grand life!
I did some weeding and edging in the long border and tidied up around the base of the fruit trees. The ash from the fire is good for the fruiting trees so I spread some around the base and watered them. The grass clippings from Saturday needed collecting and as I did that I noticed some bare patches. I had enough grass seed left to cover the patches and found some half decent compost at the bottom of the compost bin to sprinkle on top.
Wednesday. I continued edging and weeding add got the fire going again. Peter joined me later for coffee, and picked more beans.
