Weeding the asparagus bed

Monday. I spent quite a lot of time watering this morning. Strawberry plants, Brussels sprouts, broccoli and green manure all needed watering. Then I dug over an area of the asparagus bed which had been under a piece of carpet. It was so much easier to dig than the patch I did last week. I guess the carpet not only supresses the weeds but also keeps the soil moist. I dug up a few asparagus plants from around the plot where they were growing in the wrong place. I have a friend who wants them so I took them over after I'd finished. I picked the remaining two squashes and brought them home to finish ripening. I'm hoping to make some squash and apple soup later in the week.
