Back to work

Sunday. Back from a week in France, I felt ready to face the digging again. Luckily it's rained while we've been away and the soil was much more workable. Picked lots of cherry tomatoes - they're all over the ground but it doesn't seem to bother them. Something's been attacking the sunflower heads, as some were scattered on the ground and stripped of seeds. I wonder if the mice run up the stems and nibble them off? I've lost three of my brassicas - looks like they've been nipped off at soil level. I just did lots of tidying up today - hoeing the weeds here and there, filling in holes where the paths had sunk, spraying the weeds etc. Picked some beet, some lovely big carrots and even more dahlias. It was a very pleasant day with lots of sunshine, so a real joy to be outside.
