Spoke too soon!

What was I saying about it not being flooded yet? The forecasted heavy rains arrived overnight, and the river, which was already high has spilled over into the bottom part of the allotment. We went down today just to see how bad it was, and collected some more wood for the fire - winter's not over yet! The floods are not as bad as last year - not yet anyway - will take another look tomorrow.
Yesterday however, the sun came out in the afternoon and we went down to do a few jobs. Peter cut up some wood and dug up some pathetic leeks. I dug over half of the area I'd sewn with green manure and planted some more sweet peas to fill in the spaces. We seem to have adopted Betty permanently now so she came along and enjoyed sitting in the sun.
Kev will be disappointed to see his edging boards floating away in the flood waters, and I was sorry to see the compost I'd just added to the bean trenches was floating around the plot.
Ah well, the floods didn't do any permanent damage last year, so here's hoping.
The mice have been busy in the shed - they found a box of Tracker biscuits and ate the lot - just left me the empty wrappers! They also ate most of the sweet pea seeds I'd saved. It must have been a bad winter for them too.
