Monday 11th May
I haven't been down to the plot since last Wednesday, when we finished planting the potatoes, did a bit of weeding and watering and took what was to be our final picture of the baby robins. The grass is looking good now and the gooseberries are getting bigger. I don't know how though, as there still hasn't been any rain. Peter erected a support for the loganberries to grow along. This will form the edge of the fruit garden. Ideally, I'd like a little picket fence along there. Maybe next year! On Friday I went into hospital to have an operation on my poor bent little finger. I'm now sporting a huge 'boxing glove' style bandage, so that explains the inactivity on the plot this last week. Believe me, it's frustrating. It hasn't stopped me planting a few things at home though. I've got lupins, sunflowers and red cabbage all coming up. Peter went down on Friday to look after things and picked more asparagus. When he went to check on the birds, they'd all flown! It's been a real treat to watch them grow - just hope they all make it.
